Several years in the making, a distribution of ELMS is finally ready for feedback and public consumption. It's still an alpha so I wouldn't use it in a production environment but it's a good look at the direction of the ELMS project. This is particularly exciting for me because I blog, talk and screen-cast a lot about the work we do but rarely get to pass it out freely for listeners to experience themselves.
ELMS has grown a lot since it was first discussed in early 2008 but its goal has remained the same: Lower the cost of entry for the creation of course materials. The philosophy being that if we can remove the technical barrier for educators in the creation of learning materials, they will have more time to create those materials and can spend less time fighting the tech!
Some high-level features:
This is alpha release and please treat it that way! Feedback, positive and negative, is much appreciated though! This comes with admin and test student accounts so remember if you're going to make this web accessible to remove the test account.
